Traditional and Trenchless Sewer Line Repair

The traditional method of repairing a collapsed or leaky sewer line is to dig up a portion of the line and replace it with new line. In researching sewer line repair companies, you may have come upon the phrase “trenchless sewer line repair.” In seeking to disturb the ground minimally, some customers elect to use this method which involves inserting something into the existing sewer line as a patch and support. This means that the ground is undisturbed, though the fix will not necessarily last as long as a full replacement. Please note that at this time, Prodan Construction does not perform trenchless sewer line repair.

Our Sewer Line Repair Company FAQ

How do you fix a broken sewer line?

Sewer lines typically have one of two things go wrong with them. Either the line is clogged or the pipe itself is degrading. In either case, a camera can be snaked into the line to determine what is going on. If the line is clogged, it can often be unclogged through a variety of snaking methods. If the line is degraded or collapsed (say a root grew around it and crushed it), then it will need to be dug up and replaced unless a trenchless repair method can be implemented. The latter situation is typically the job we are called in to handle.

What are trenchless sewer line repairs?

Trenchless sewer line repair involves inserting something into or around a broken sewer line to patch and reinforce a failed spot. This means that the sewer line is not replaced with a new pipe, but it also means that the ground does not need to be disturbed so much as in replacing the line. Please note that Prodan Construction does not perform trenchless sewer line repair.

How long does it take to repair a broken sewer line?

The only way to tell for sure will be to know what’s wrong with the line in the first place. Talk to our team to arrange for an evaluation of your problem.

What are the signs of a broken sewer pipe?

  • Odor (we’re sure you can figure out why)
  • Sinking ground if the pipe has collapsed or is letting out enough moisture to destabilize the ground around a leak
  • Slow drains can be caused by a clogged or collapsing sewer line
  • Odd growth patterns in the foliage above your sewer line could be a sign they are getting extra water and nutrients from a leak beneath the surface

Do plumbers work on sewers?

Some do, but often only to remove a clog in an otherwise stable line. Many lack the excavation equipment necessary to remove and replace an old sewer line, which is where a sewer line replacement company like Prodan Construction comes in.

How much does it cost to repair a sewer line?

That depends on the nature of the problem. Clogs will be the cheapest thing to fix. In the worst case scenario, the entire sewer line from your house to the city hookup will need to be replaced. Arrange for an estimate by contacting our team.

Is sewer line replacement covered by homeowners insurance?

That depends on your policy. Get in touch with your insurance company or agent to determine what they are able to do. No doubt at least you will need to cover a deductible, which may well be worth it.
